The kick-off for Women’s Week started on March 6 with the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event.
The rally stayed at Hindman Bell Tower, and participants were able to hear from community members, observe Tech’s first ‘Clothesline Project’ and meet various organizations such as the Ozark Rape Crisis Center and River Valley Shelter.
People of all gender identities were welcome to walk a mile to help advocate against sexual and relationship violence while supporting survivors; however, males were invited to go an extra mile by walking in bright red heels.
The red heels are to represent listening, learning, allyship and commitment. The next Women Week’s event will be tomorrow at noon in the West Dining Hall.
