The Golden Suns volleyball team found themselves back in the win column last Thursday after a straight-sets victory over the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms. This was Tech’s first win since September 30 with a 3-2 win at East Central and first straight-set win since September 29 against Southeastern Oklahoma. Thursday’s win was a tight trio of sets for the Suns, winning each group by no more than 6 points.
Outside hitter Maddie Siedenburg finished the match with a team-high 10 kills, bringing her season total to 166, also leading the Suns. Siedenburg also leads the team in total attacks the season with 569.
Freshman setter Aspen Jankowski recorded four aces in the match, giving her 98 aces this season, good for third on the team.
Team-wise, Tech led the match in every stat, total points, kills, digs, aces, blocks, and assists. Tech also forced Monticello to commit 25 errors, with the Suns only committing 18, their fourth-fewest in a win this season.
As of Tuesday, October 25, Tech sits at 8th in the Great American Conference standings with a 6-19 overall record with a 4-8 record in GAC play. To qualify for the GAC Tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Tech must finish at least in eighth place or higher.
Tech will go on its final road trip of the season, beginning with a match on October 27 against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia, then making the trip to Arkadelphia to take on Ouachita Baptist.
The final home game of the season will be on November 3 as the Golden Suns face the first-place Bison of Harding. It is Senior Night, and the first service is set for 6 pm.
