Arkansas Tech Student Activities Board kicked off the spring semester with three engaging student-focused events, and ensured attendees that they would not be slowing down.
The first event, “Silence At The Disco” took place on Jan. 25, in the Hull Student Union. Students danced the night away with a personal set of headphones, all synced to three different music stations.
“Cocoa and Chill” provided a fun and unique movie night experience at the Union. Delicious hot cocoa, popcorn and sweet treats were provided to students who attended. The “Polar Express” was screened on the projector in the Union for students to relax, enjoy their night, and welcome in the winter weather.
“Gold Rush Bingo” was held Tuesday night, Feb. 6, in Witherspoon Auditorium. The event was SAB’s biggest giveaway of the year with fantastic prizes being awarded to students simply by playing and winning bingo. The event brought out a fun competitive atmosphere for students to enjoy.
“I like being able to bring all my friends, hang out and enjoy spending relaxing time for the evening at the SAB events,” said Emma Helmuth, an education major from Jasper, Arkansas.
The Arkansas Tech Student Activities Board looks to respond to the interests of the student body to strengthen the campus community and enhance the student experience.
“Being president of SAB is not just a title, it’s an opportunity I have been blessed to have, allowing me to work with the people I love on campus and strengthen the ATU student experience,” said Madison Starks, an English major from Bigelow, Arkansas.
Starks is serving her first year as SAB president but has been involved with the organization since she began attending ATU as a freshman. Starks explained that not only is it great connecting to the students during her role as president, but she has also learned from them as well. Leadership, how to be an effective team member and building strong connections are just a few of the many positives she’s gained from her experience.
“I love being able to give back to the student body by connecting with their interests on campus, as well as the Russellville community. Seeing the smiles on students’ faces at the events makes all the hard work planning and implementing the events more than worth it,” said Lance Phillips, Broadcast Journalism major from Altus, Arkansas, and SAB Campus Engagement Chair.
