The Wonder Boys baseball team started their Great American Conference play on Feb. 17 and proceeded to go on a five-game win streak.
They dominated against Oklahoma Baptist three games in row at home from Feb. 17-18. Tech shut them down easily in the first game, 10-0. The Wonder Boys were quick to put four runs on the board by the fourth inning and another six in the seventh and eighth. Good defense and stand out pitching by John Gray, sophomore from Youngsville, Louisianna, prevented Oklahoma Baptist from scoring a run.
The following games were closer, but Tech still managed a 12-9 victory, followed by a 3-2 win.
On Feb. 21 the Wonder Boys traveled to Southern Arkansas and took a 16-15 win. Southern Arkansas came out strong in the second inning, scoring nine runs and putting Tech in a tight spot. The Wonder Boys upped their defense, and an active seventh inning at the plate granted them an impressive comeback.
Feb. 25-26 Tech competed in three games against Southern Nazarene. They dominated 15-2 on their first game, but struggled in the following game, 11-2. The Wonder Boys made a comeback in the final game, with a 17-9 triumph.
The Wonder Boys will play at home again on March 3 against Henderson State.
