Arkansas Tech University will soon offer an orientation program called TECHConnect Transfer, to better familiarize transfer students with the university.
The transfer students will have the opportunity to become more familiar with the campus, learn about involvement opportunities, academics, and meet other students, according to Meighan Burke, director of student transition and family engagement.
The transfer leaders will be required to have several responsibilities, such as engaging with incoming students, having small group sessions to talk about certain topics and showing students around campus. They must also meet certain qualifications, including being a transfer student, a full-time undergraduate student in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5, strong communication skills, customer service skills and know the university’s policies, procedures, and campus resources.
Benefits to the student transfer leaders include benefits such as making connections with other student leaders, faculty, and staff, enhancing leadership and communication skills, moving into their residence hall early in Fall 2022 and receiving a stipend.
TECHConnect Transfer orientation leaders must be available for training from January 2022 and August 2022.
Online applications were available through Presence, and were due Wednesday. Individual interviews are expected to begin this month.
