If you’re reading this, you’re more than likely a college student, like me, finding your way through the newfound independence, stress, and excitement that is your college years. My name is Piper Orio-Dettling, and I am in my last semester at Arkansas Tech University. In these short 3.5 years, I have laughed, cried, and learned a lot. Throughout these next few weeks, I will be writing tips and tricks from myself and others that have helped us navigate through our years at ATU with the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
My first tip, and the one that helped me the most in my journey, is to embrace everything that comes with this season of life. College is a new chapter, and in my opinion, a chance to start fresh. What I have come to learn is that nobody really cares if you were a homecoming queen, first chair in band, or a starter on your athletic team in high school. They care about who you are now. You can be anyone you want to be, and how you choose to do with this opportunity is up to you. Embrace it, take advantage of it, and stay true to yourself.
