Arkansas Tech trailed the leader by only 2 strokes after day one, but the Wonder Boys ended the third and final round tied for fifth place at the Argonaut Invitational with 894 strokes, 19 shots behind winners North Alabama.
Three Tech golfers finished up play ranked in the top 25 out of an 83-man field at the Tiger Point Golf Club in Gulf Breeze, Florida on March 30-31.
Senior Alex Mahlik tied for ninth place, tallying a 222 (+6) total with daily scores of 73, 75 and 74.
Junior Brian Belz totaled 224 shots (+8) and finished tied for 17th after shooting a 74 in round one and two and a 76 in round three.
Sophomore Julio Arguelles tied for 23rd, slipping in the second round (72, 80, 74) to end the invitational with 226 (+10) strokes.
Senior Jason Purdy came in 35th place with 229 (+13) shots and sophomore Austin Smith tied for 47th after hitting a 232 (+16) total.
The Wonder Boys will return to play on Monday at the Natural State Classic in Heber Springs.
