Suns golf claims fourth, 10th

The Golden Suns golf team finished fourth out of 14 teams in the Diffee Ford-Lincoln Invitational at KickingBird Golf Course in Edmond, Okla., on March 9-10.

Rebecka Surtevall topped the leader board for the Golden Suns with a tied-for-12th finish. Surtevall cut seven shots off her first-round score of 80 to finish with a 153 total, or 13 over par. Overall medalist Anna Cortadellas of Oklahoma Christian shot a total 143 (+3).

Taylor Kine finished in a tie for 14th place with a first-round score of 81 and second-round score of 73 for a 154. Megan Jeffery finished in a tie for 17th place with a first-round score of 77 and second-round score of 78 for a 155. Jessica Sachs earned 21st place with a first round of 81 and second round of 76 for a 157. Alexandra Muhl tied for 33rd place with scores of 84 and 77 for a combined 161. Caroline Fredensborg tied for 35th with a 78 and 84 for a 162 total.

Monday and Tuesday at the Barry Invitational at the Shula’s Golf Club in Miami, the Golden Suns carded a 10th-place finished in a field of 15 nationwide teams. A threeround total of 915 put Tech 41 strokes back of winner Rollins College. The Golden Suns shot an opening round of 303, second round of 308 and final round of 304. Surtevall topped Tech’s leaderboard as tied for fifth with a a total score of 217, only four strokes more than overall medalist Annie Dulman of Rollins College. Kline carded a 229 for a 34th-place tie. Fredensborg carded a 231 for a 41st-place tie. Jeffery carded a 240 for a 62nd-place tie. Laura Gallizo carded a 247 for a 74th-place tie.
