“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.”
I came across this quote, and it made me think of all the things I have wanted to do. Some of the dreams I once had have not come true. For a while I forgot to find a new one.
Recently I have decided to pursue an old dream of mine. As child I dreamed of being a ballerina. I thought ballet was pretty, and I wanted to have that grace, that strength. I never really had a chance to even try. I was busy doing other things that cost time and money so I never asked my parents.
It was not easy for me to pick up the phone and call the dance teacher to ask about ballet classes. Whenever I looked up classes, they were for young children, and I thought I was too old to begin dancing. After giving it some thought, I called and asked about private lessons. I didn’t take a lot of time to think about. I kind of just did it because I was worried I would back out. I was worried I would fail.
Through beginning this journey I have learned that no matter what dream one wishes to pursue, they should. My dream is old, and I never really thought it would come true. Here I am 21 years old, and I am beginning classical ballet lessons.
I had my doubts, but even if I fail I will have at least tried.
