New recreation program offers free climbing

Campus Recreation is offering new programs for Tech students, including free rock climbing, tennis and fitness classes.

Free rock climbing at The Wall is available for the fall semester. Students can pick up a day pass at the information booth located at the entrance of Doc Bryan after providing a valid Tech ID. This pass includes rock climbing and bouldering.

Karen Maradiaga, senior public relations major from Russellville, already has her pass.

“Free rock climbing made me super excited,” Maradiaga said. “It allows me to bring an friend of mine who never had the experience to try it out risk-free, and it’s super beneficial.”

The Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex tennis courts are available to students from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday nights. Tennis rackets and balls are provided.

New fitness classes are now being offered in the Hull dance studio.

Insanity classes are offered Mondays from 4-5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9-10 p.m.

Piyo Strengthening classes are offered Tuesdays from 8-9 p.m. and Thursdays from 4-5 p.m.
