Golf takes 3rd at Natural State Classic

The Wonder Boys finished third at the Natural State Golf Classic on Tuesday at Red Apple Inn and Country Club in Heber Springs.

The third-place finish was the best by the Wonder Boys of the spring season.

Henderson State claimed the top spot with 549, while Tech finished with 564.

Southern Nazarene claimed second place with 560 in the nine-team field.

Henderson State’s Drew Greenwood earned medalist honors with 134, eight strokes under par.

Austin Smith led Tech with a 140 for a fifth-place finish. Jason Purdy finished with 142 to tie for 10th. Alex Mahlik finished with 143 to tie for 13th.

Julio Arguelles and Brian Belz finished with 144 to tie for 17th.

The Wonder Boys will play in the Great American Conference Championship on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Hot Springs.
