Golden Suns cross country finishes sixth at Tiger Chase

The Golden Suns cross country team competed in its last race before the Great American Conference Championships on Saturday in Ada, Okla.

Arkansas Tech University placed sixth in the Tiger Chase, which was hosted by East Central University at the 5K Pontotoc Technology Center course.

Midwestern University claimed first place from the eight-team field, while Southern Arkansas University’s Carli Langley finished in first place at a time of 18:41 in the 79-athlete field.

Freshman Mary Simmons finished first for the Golden Suns. A time of 20:39 earned Simmons 21st place.

Freshman Maria Valente finished in 36th place with a time of 21:34.

Freshman Morgan Spychalski finished in 43rd place with a time of 22:23.

Freshman Logan Edwards finished in 44th place with a time of 22:27. Sophomore Jazmin Urioste finished in 55th place with a time of 24:04.

Freshman Afia Abdus Samad finished in 58th place with a time of 24:29.

Tech has a two-week rest before the GAC Championships on Nov. 8 in Ada, Okla. The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for Nov. 22 in Wayne, Neb.
