Fashion is my passion

BY DARRYL WILKINS

I can remember it like it was just yesterday. Five years of age and picking up a pencil and attempting to sketch clothes like I really was the next hottest designer on the planet. Every since then, my love for all things fashion — from accessories to the perfect outfit — has grown even stronger.

My dream is to one day become a celebrity wardrobe and fashion stylist — personal shopping, styling editorials, runway shows and traveling nationally as well as internationally — and a designer — having my own collection of clothing, accessories and cosmetics. Eventually, this would transform into a fashion journalist, with the hopes of my blog going digital and sitting in the front rows of fashion week, being a Fashion-Correspondent for E! News and a writer for major fashion publications.

I strongly feel that everyone must pay their dues, and I am no stranger to dreading starting out as an intern. But in all reality, I really enjoyed interning because I really learned a lot. But the reason for this is to say that if you have a dream in life, go for it.

Sure there will be people who will tell you that you aren’t good enough or that you won’t make it, but don’t let them stop you from reaching your biggest goals in life.

I have had a lot of haters tell me that I can’t do anything, but I refuse to let them stop me from doing what I love. So with that being said, keep striving for your goals and dreams.
Remember to always reach for the stars and to always have faith in yourself.
