There comes a time in every college student’s career when he questions his degree choice. Things get difficult and classes are a struggle.
Should I be majoring in this? Why didn’t I choose the other option?
I’ll tell you something right now. There’s no such thing as one correct path.
Going into my freshman year, I majored in vocal music education at the University of Arkansas. I’m a good singer and was successful in high school. Everyone was expecting me to go into music. It seemed like the obvious choice.
I soon realized I was miserable, but I thought it was because of my college choice. I transferred to Arkansas Tech University, still majoring in music.
Though I was successful for the most part, I was still miserable. It was obvious that my major was the problem, so I talked to my advisor and she helped me narrow down other choices.
I picked a double major in print journalism and speech communication, and though I’ve never been busier, I’ve also never been happier. Writing is my passion, and I hope to change lives with my words!
The bottom line is there are an infinite number of options in life, and you will be successful in a lot of them.
The key is finding the one that makes you the happiest and to stick to it no matter what happens.
