The Arkansas Tech University Observatory will be open to the public on Tuesday, October 6 between 7 pm and 8 pm. The observatory is located in the courtyard of McEver Hall.
“Really what we look at are the moon, the planets and a few of the brightest stars…whatever happens to be up at that particular time of night” said Dr. Jeff Robertson, who oversees the observatory.
Robertson said anywhere from three to thirty people can be expected to show up on any given week but for the most recent opening for the lunar eclipse, over 200 people showed up.
The observatory will not open in the case of poor weather conditions. To learn more about the observatory, visit www.atu.edu/physics/Observatory.php.
